Sauteed Clams for Dinner

My father did a surprise visit yesterday night and demanded that he wanted to have sauteed clams for dinner. My hubby nodded at the idea. I raised my brows at the two men and said "hush"!? It's not that I hate clams but I never really tried it since I was little until now. I never even had the desire to taste it. I find its look disgusting, you know it looks like "pu$$y". I am so sorry for that but its true. Although my mother kept telling me that it is very reach with iodine and it is very good for me since I had a minor goiter when I was little. Yet, she was not able to let me eat it. I rather had dried fish and salted fish to go with my rice than clams and whatever seashell foods except shrimp fish, crabs and lobster.

So, I got a cup of clams for dad and hubby from the fish market for 30 pesos not knowing if it was the kind they like. Yet, when I got home they approved it. My father and I then started the cooking. My father taught me how. Hmmn, it was great thinking that my father and I had that quality moment together. Oh, I forgot to tell you, my father's cooking is great as in he cooks real good. He can be a chef and I wanted so much to be like him. So, we started cooking. We washed the clams and placed it in a medium size casserole just right for the clams to fit in and filled enough water in.
We let it boil at medium heat and checked it from time to time. As soon as it started cracking open I stirred them so all of them will crack. After that, we took them all from the boiling and bubbling water. Dad saved some of the boiling water in a cup. He said he was going to use it. We took the clams from its shells. It was fun, though the heat of the shells didn't feel good. When done, dad told me to wash them using the rest of the boiling water to take off the sticking sand in that particular part where I had to spread it open to wash that pieces of dirt away.

After setting everything, dad did the final cooking. He already had his chopped onions, minced garlic, string onions and ground black pepper. The sauteing then started. Dad added some of that juice he kept in the cup to add to taste and to add a little bit of syrup to the sautee'.

And next to that is the eating time. Check out some of this serve of sauteed clams in a serving plate. Do you find it yummy? Yep, I found it yummy and I had no choice but eat them. Yes, it tasted good, I swear and I am gonna have some of it again.
